ABOUT PEEL &
THE ISLAND
The ancient Viking kingdom of Man and the Isles had its capital in Peel where the imposing ruins of Peel Castle now guard the beautiful harbour and sandy bay of modern Peel. The river, marina and sheltering hills provide the Island’s own ‘sunset city’, a beautiful setting on the west coast with easy links to the rest of the Island.
Although you’ll want to explore further afield, don’t miss wandering through the old streets of Peel, the marina and harbour. Take advantage of great restaurants, where you can enjoy freshly caught seafood, or maybe enjoy an ice cream on the beach.

The Island may not be large but you won’t be short of things to do beyond the world famous TT races and an abundance of other motor-sport. The island is also a popular venue for cycling, sailing, adventure & sea sports, golfing (9 courses to choose from), hiking, angling (sea, game and course fishing), exploring Manx National Heritage sites and the Victorian Steam railway to name just a few things to keep you occupied.
With the addition of the largest concentration of dark sky sites the Island is an amazing venue for stargazing too. As the first entire jurisdiction in the world to be granted UNESCO biosphere status there is something for everyone. Whether you are looking for outdoor adventures, historic sites to explore, great local food to enjoy or a simple old fashioned family seaside holiday, Peel and the Isle of Man has it all.
